JLPT N5 vocabulary, grammar and kanji

N5 is the first of the five levels of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). It checks basic Japanese: reading short phrases and sentences written in hiragana, katakana and the most common kanji, and following short, slow conversations about everyday things such as family, school, shopping and the time of day.

At N5 you meet the core particles, polite and plain verb forms, adjectives, counting and the first kanji. Manabiya teaches all of it in small lessons you can take ten minutes at a time.
